Linda Spence, the Winner of the Autumn 2004 Bead O'the Quarter

The core of this bead is made of Effetre Dark Ivory, which has been wrapped in silver leaf and melted in. Next, "caps" of New Violet were added. Then Light Ivory was added in a zigzag pattern and the whole bead was superheated. The silver leaf created the patterned effect when it interacted at high heat with both the base color and the zigzag additions. (You can see the faint traces of the zigzag in the center. It looks a bit like an 'S' shape.) Once the pattern is achieved, the final shaping takes place.
